윤석열 대통령이 6일 "대한민국이 직면한 도전·위기를 극복하고 새로운 도약을 이루기 위해선 지방이 살아나야 한다"고 강조했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 오전 강원 춘천 송암스포츠타운에서 열린 '제2회 지방자치 및 균형발전의 날 기념식'에 참석해 축사에서 "지역균형 발전에서 뭣보다 중요한 건 좋은 일자리가 충분히 창출되도록 하는 것"이라며 이같이 말했다. 윤 대통령은 지난해에 이어 2년 연속 참석했다.
이날 기념식은 '대한민국 어디서나 살기 좋은 지방시대'를 열어나가기 위한 비전 공유와 기회발전특구 등 다양한 지방시대 정책 성과들을 국민과 공유키 위해 마련됐다.

지난 6월 대구·경북·부산·대전·경남·전남·전북·제주 등 8개 지자체가 기회발전특구로 지정된 후 이번에 6개 지역이 추가된 것이다.
윤 대통령은 "좋은 교육·의료가 뒷받침돼야 주민들 삶 질이 높아지고 더 많은 기업·인재들이 지역으로 오게 될 것"이라며 "지역완결적 필수의료체계를 속도감 있게 구축해 지역주민들 생명·건강을 지키겠다"고 전했다.
그러면서 "지역 균형발전이 성공하기 위해선 지방분권이 함께 이뤄져야 한다"며 "스스로 발전하기 위해 노력하는 지방정부를 힘껏 밀어드리겠다"고 덧붙였다.
