윤석열 대통령이 14일(현지시간) 제31차 APEC(아시아태평양 경제협력체) 정상회의 참석을 위해 중남미 순방 첫 방문국 페루 리마에 도착했다.
윤 대통령은 이날 저녁 7시 20분께 대통령 전용기 공군 1호기 편으로 페루 수도 리마 국제공항(제2공군비행장)에 도착한 가운데 한·미·일 3국 정상회의 등 15일(현지시간)부터 이틀간 APEC 공식 일정 소화에 들어간다.
윤 대통령은 페루 공식방문 일정을 갖는 가운데 공식환영식·한·페루 정상회담·공동언론발표·정상만찬·방산 등 주요 분야 MOU 체결식 등이 예정돼 있다.
또 APEC 정상회의에서 각국 정상들과 포용적 경제성장·취약계층 지원을 위한 협력·연대를 논의하고, 자유롭고 안정적 무역투자환경·인공지능(AI) 연대를 통한 공동 이익 증진 등 중요성을 강조 후 CEO서밋 기조연설 및 APEC 정상 갈라만찬에 참석한다.
이번 APEC 참석을 계기로 양자 정상회담 등 정상외교를 펼치는 가운데 조 바이든 미국 대통령·이시바 시게루 일본 총리와 한·미·일 3국 정상회의를 열어 안보 협력 의지를 재확인한다.
더불어 시게루 총리와 양자 정상회담을 열어 상호 협력 증진 방안을 논의하고, 시진핑 중국 국가주석과의 한·중 정상회담도 추진 중이다. 시 주석과는 지난 2022년 11월 인도네시아 발리 G20(주요 20개국) 정상회의 계기 정상회담을 가진 바 있다.
