지구의 나이는 약 46억 년 정도, 지구의 중심에서 지표면까지 6,400km인데 지표면 흙의 두께는 15~35km 불과하며, 중심핵 온도는 약 4,500도, 지표면 온도는 15도라고 한다. 우리가 마시는 공기층은 지상에서 10km정도까지라고 한다.
우주의 일 년은 129,600년이고, 우주의 하루가 360년 정도라고 하는데
그 지구의 지표면과 공기층의 얇은 막 사이에서 80억 인구는 평균 기대수명 80살 전후의 인생을 아등바등 살고 있는 것이라고 한다. 이렇게 보면 그 속에서 삶이란 찰나에 불과한 것이라 탐욕과 이기심을 버리고 너그러움과 따뜻함을 지니고 살아야 할 이유가 되는 것 같다.

노벨문학상 수상소감을 하는 한강 작가의 목소리는 계절로 보면 2월의 어떤 시점처럼 조용하고 단아하다. 따뜻한 봄기운을 품고 있어 고요하지만, 힘이 있게 느껴진다.

이제 내가 쓰는 부족한 글들이 계곡을 흐르는 물처럼 소중한 분들의 마음을 거스르지 않고 고요히 스치듯 흘러 지나기 바란다.
