경주시에 따르면, 이번 방문에는 김석기 외통위원장(국민의힘·경주시)을 비롯해 김영배 간사(더불어민주당·서울 성북구갑), 김건 간사(국민의힘·비례대표) 등 외통위 소속 의원 13명이 참석했다.
이들은 이날 오전 KTX를 타고 경주역에 도착한 후, 경주화백컨벤션센터(HICO)에서 열린 APEC 준비지원단의 회의 준비 상황 보고를 받았다. 현장에는 주낙영 경주시장, 이동협 경주시의장, 양금희 경북도 경제부지사 등이 함께 참석했다.

National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee Visits Gyeongju to Check Preparations for 2025 APEC Summit
In preparation for the 2025 APEC Summit, ruling and opposition party members of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee visited Gyeongju on the 21st to inspect major facilities and check preparations.

Kim Seok-ki, Chairman of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, said, “Gyeongju is a representative cultural city of the Republic of Korea that preserves the thousand-year history of Silla, and is the best place to successfully host the APEC summit,” and added, “Through this on-site visit, we confirmed the thorough preparation process, and the National Assembly will actively support Gyeongju’s leap forward as an international city in cooperation with the government.”
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young emphasized, “Gyeongju is a historical and cultural city that can compete with any city in the world,” and “Through this APEC summit, we will make Gyeongju’s status known to the world and focus all our capabilities on hosting it successfully.”
