당진시(시장 오성환)는 온실가스 발생 저감을 위해 300세대 이상 공동주택을 대상으로 무선 주파수 식별(RFID) 방식 음식물쓰레기 종량기 설치를 지원한다고 27일 밝혔다.
시는 올해 사업비를 전년 대비 두 배인 7,600만 원으로 늘리고, 설치비의 95%를 지원해 최대 43대의 종량기를 설치할 방침이다.
RFID 방식의 음식물쓰레기 종량기는 기존 공동 부담 방식에서 벗어나 배출량에 따라 세대별로 부과하는 제도로, 시민들의 자발적인 감량을 유도하는 효과가 있다.
이 시스템은 음식물쓰레기 배출구 자동 개폐 기능을 통해 악취를 저감하고, 주거 환경의 미관을 개선하는 데 기여할 뿐만 아니라, 자원화 설비의 노후화를 감소시키는 다양한 효과를 가져온다.
