충남 예산군이 농촌 의료 인력 부족 문제에 대응하고자 지역 내 보건지소를 권역별로 재편하고, 공중보건의사를 활용한 순회진료 체계를 본격적으로 운영 중이다.
군에 따르면, 최근 공중보건의사 배치 인원 감소와 보건복지부의 배정 기준 변화로 인해 지역 보건지소의 인력 확보가 어려움을 겪고 있다. 실제로 예산군의 올해 공중보건의사 배정 인원은 전년 대비 2명 줄어든 총 5명에 그쳤다.
