충남 서산시가 지역 발전을 위한 주요 현안 사업 추진에 박차를 가하고자 지역 정치권과 머리를 맞댔다.
이를 위해 서산시는 28일 시청 대회의실에서 성일종 국회의원을 비롯해 김옥수·이연희 충남도의원 등과 함께 ‘국회의원·도의원 초청 설명회’를 열고, 22개 주요 현안 사업을 공유하며 국비·도비 확보 방안을 논의했다.
이번 설명회는 국회와 중앙부처, 충청남도와의 유기적인 협조체계를 강화해 핵심 사업을 안정적으로 추진하기 위한 자리로, 시의원들과 각 기관 관계자들이 함께 참여해 실질적인 협력 방안 마련에 집중했다.
서산시는 매년 별도로 열던 국회의원 및 도의원 설명회를 올해는 통합 개최하며, 한층 강화된 소통과 협력의 계기를 마련했다는 평가다.
이날 시가 중점적으로 제시한 사업은 국도 29·32호선 우회도로 신설 국가계획 반영 ,서산시 철도망 신규 국가계획 반영 ,가로림만 국가해양생태공원 지정 ,국립국악원 서산 분원 건립 ,예천지구 공영주차장 및 초록광장 조성 등이다.
이와 함께 한국생명공학연구원·한국화학연구원 분원, 도립박물관 등 유치 사업에 대해서도 정부 및 도 차원의 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.
성일종 국회의원은 “서산의 미래를 위한 전략적 사업들인 만큼, 국회 차원에서 예산 확보와 정책 반영에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다. 김옥수·이연희 도의원도 “충남도와의 협력을 통해 서산시 주요 사업이 현실화될 수 있도록 도의회에서도 지속적인 관심과 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
서산시의회 조동식 의장은 “시의회는 시민의 삶의 질 향상과 지역 균형 발전을 위해 집행부의 중점 사업이 원활히 진행될 수 있도록 든든한 지원군이 되겠다”고 밝혔다.
이완섭 서산시장은 “정치권의 관심과 협조는 서산의 미래를 위한 든든한 힘”이라며 “국도비 확보에 전력을 다해 지역 발전의 기반을 확실히 다져나가겠다”고 강조했다.
이번 설명회를 통해 서산시는 정치권과의 협력을 강화하고, 지역 미래를 이끌어갈 핵심 사업들의 동력 확보에 한층 속도를 낼 것으로 기대된다.
