경남교육청, 원어민 영어보조교사 한국 문화 체험 연수

[브레이크뉴스=박찬호 기자] 경남도교육청은 3일부터 4일까지 1박 2일간 도내 원어민 영어보조교사 32명을 대상으로 '한국 문화 체험 연수'를 경주 일대에서 진행한다. 

이번 연수는 원어민 교사들의 한국 문화 및 역사 이해를 심화하고, 상호 교류를 통해 유대감을 높이고자 기획되었다.

연수 참여자는 경남교육청 소속 학교에서 1년 이상 근무한 교사 중 장기근속자, 영어 교육 사업 공적자, 우수 평가자 등을 우선적으로 선발했다. 

현재 경남 지역에는 미국, 영국, 캐나다 등 영어권 국가 출신 학사 학위 이상 소지자 215명의 원어민 영어보조교사가 활동 중이며, 이들은 영어 의사소통 능력 향상과 사교육비 경감에 기여하고 있다.

참가자들은 유네스코 세계문화유산인 불국사와 석굴암을 비롯해 동궁과 월지, 첨성대 등을 탐방하며 한국의 고유한 아름다움과 역사적 가치를 직접 경험했다. 또한 한복 체험을 통해 한국 문화를 오감으로 느끼는 시간을 가졌다.

이번 연수에 참여한 양산 가남초등학교 소속 크리스토퍼 로에 원어민 영어보조교사는 "경주는 마치 살아있는 박물관 같았다"며, 다른 원어민 교사들과 함께 교류하며 뜻깊은 시간을 보낼 수 있어 기쁘다고 소감을 전했다.

이일만 진로교육과장은 "이번 연수가 원어민 영어보조교사들이 한국 문화를 더 깊이 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 학교 현장에서 더욱 활발하게 영어 교육 활동을 펼치는 계기가 되기를 기대한다"고 밝혔다.
