■ 머리말
사람은 누구나 자기만의 길을 걷는다. 어떤 길은 평탄하고, 어떤 길은 구불구불하고, 어떤 길은 아예 지도가 없는 길도 있다. 나도 그랬다.
이리저리 부딪히고, 넘어지고, 다시 일어나면서 내 길을 걸어왔다. 지금 이 글을 쓰고 있는 이 순간에도, 누군가는 어디선가 자기 길을 걷고 있을 것이다.
내 이야기는 아주 작은 시골마을, 화순에서 시작된다. 화순은 내 고향이고, 내 인생의 첫 페이지 같은 곳이다. 그곳에서 처음으로 세상이란 걸 알게 됐다.

Everyone walks their own path. Some paths are smooth, some are winding, and some paths have no map at all. I was like that too.
I walked my path by bumping into things here and there, falling down, and getting up again. Even at this moment, as I write this, someone somewhere is walking their own path.
My story begins in a very small rural town, Hwasun. Hwasun is my hometown and the first page of my life. It was there that I first learned about the world.
I thought that I would live like them as I met people, learned about work, and watched adults living with worn-out hands. But I didn’t know at the time.
