브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT, SK텔레콤, LG유플러스 등 통신 3사가 애플의 최근 iOS 26 업데이트를 통해 국내에서도 아이폰 RCS(Rich Communication Services) 메시징 서비스를 지원한다.
RCS는 문자메시지의 진화된 세계 표준 규격으로 그룹 채팅, 고품질 사진 전송, 읽음 확인·‘입력 중’ 표시 등 보다 편리하고 풍부한 메시징 경험을 제공한다.. 아이폰의 경우 작년 말부터 국가별로 순차적으로 RCS를 확대 적용하기 시작했다.
그간 국내에서는 안드로이드 운영체제(OS)에서만 RCS를 지원했으나, 이번 업데이트 이후 아이폰에서도 RCS를 사용할 수 있게 됐다. 단, 아이폰으로 RCS를 사용하려면 iOS 26 이상을 지원하는 아이폰 11 시리즈 이후 단말이 필요하다.
