국민의힘은 ‘3등 정당’이다. ‘등수’ 높은 사람들만 ‘등용’해 ‘등신’되는 매커니즘의 정당인 것이다. 조선시대 양반처럼 등수 높은 무능함과 무력감이다. 국민의힘은 ‘TK 자민련’으로 수렴하는 중이다. 국민의힘엔 패배 DNA가 있는데 바로 ‘서오남’과 같은 엘리트주의다.
이런 저런 선거판을 관찰해보면 가장 황당한 게 평소엔 엘리트주의로 똘똘 뭉쳐 ‘양반-상놈’ 이항대립적 세계관으로 무장해 있던 이들이 선거 때만 되면 간교하게 웃음을 흘리며 ‘상놈’들을 찾아 다니며 표를 달라고 호소한다. 선거에 이기고 싶으면 엘리트주의를 벗어던지던지 엘리트주의를 고수할 거면 선거에 이길 생각을 접던지. 가능한 건 두 가지 중에 하나다. 한데 그 두 가지 모두를 하고 싶어하는 사람들이 더 많은 정당이 바로 국민의힘인 것이다.
어리석음이다. 서민들이 지지를 하고 싶어도 지지를 해줄 수 없는 매우 애처로운 어리석음이다. 국민의힘은 ‘TK 자민련’으로 이미 수렴했다. 솔직하게 말하자. 정당은 수권을 목표로 하는 게 맞다. 더 솔직히, 선거에서 이기는 게 목표일 수밖에 없다. 지금 이대로 가면 국힘이 선거에 패하는 게 아니라 이미 선거에 패했다. 어차피 내년 지방선거 해보나 마나다. 중요한 건 패할 때 패하더라도 그 다음 선거 승리 기약을 위해 중도층과 서민들을 향해 신호를 보내야 한다.
현 시점에선 경제정책 중심 정당이 되는 것 밖에 없다. 그게 중도층과 서민들에게 어필할 수 있는 유일한 방법이다. 지금 정국을 보라. 지금처럼 억지 주장이 판쳤던 적이 없고 지금처럼 돈이 마구 풀렸던 적이 없었던 것 같다. 한국은 포퓰리즘 전체국가로 수렴해갈 수도 있다. 포퓰리즘으로 인해 한국은 베네수엘라로 수렴하고, 국민의힘은 ‘TK 자민련’으로 수렴해가는 구도다.
그 열세를 만회하기 위해선 베네수엘라로 향하는 균형경로를 되돌려야 한다. 포퓰리즘 극복 경제정책 중심 정당이 답이다. 지금 한국은 큰 체제 위기를 맞고 있는데 게임이론 시각에서 그 책임은 9할은 국힘의 무능함과 무력감으로 보인다. 생각해보라. 축구 경기를 10-0으로 패하면, 골을 많이 넣은 공격수 잘못일까? 아님 수비를 못하는 수비수 잘못일까? 백번 양보해서 수비수 잘못이 아니라면 공격수가 잘한 것이지 잘못했다고 말하기 어렵다.
자성도 쇄신도 없이, 좁게는 상대 계파 탓 넓게는 민주당 탓만 해대는 국힘의 모습은 사람을 질리게 하는 구석이 있다. 그게 무능함이다. 그 무능함의 근원은 ‘서오남’과 같은 등수높은 무능함일 수도 있다. 그렇게 해서 지지를 얻을 수 없다. 언론보도를 보면, 윤석열 정부를 멸망으로 이끈 것도 ‘서오남’ 엘리트주의였다. 중요한 건 보수 정당의 무능함이 체제위기로 이어진다는 사실이다.
장동혁 대표는 승리를 위해 전략적 사고를 할 필요가 있다. 어떻게 이길 지 생각해보라. 중도층과 서민들의 지지가 없으면 승리가 불가능하다. ‘중도확장’을 위해 당의 스펙트럼을 넓게 가져가야 한다. ‘실사구시’를 위해 ‘서오남’과 같은 엘리트주의와 절연을 선언해야 한다. 그게 승리공식이다. yslee1992@hotmail.com

It's foolish. It's a truly pathetic folly, one that ordinary citizens can't support even if they want to. The People Power Party has already converged on the "TK United Liberal Democrats." Let's be honest. A political party should aim for power. More honestly, its only goal is to win elections. If things continue as they are, the People Power Party won't just lose the election; it's already lost. It's all for naught in the local elections next year. The important thing is to send a signal to the moderates and the working class, even if they lose, to ensure victory in the next election.
At this point, the only way to appeal to the moderates and the working class is to become a party focused on economic policy. That's the only way to appeal to the moderates and the working class. Look at the current political climate. It seems like there's never been so much unreasonable arguments or so much money being spent. Korea could be converging on a populist nation. Populism is driving South Korea toward Venezuela, while the People Power Party is converging with the "TK United Liberal Democrats."
