[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 수영구의 광안리어방축제가 지난 22~ 24일까지 미국 캘리포니아주 팜스프링스에서 열린 ‘제70회 세계축제협회(IFEA World) 피너클 어워드’에서 금상 2개 부문과 동상 1개 부문을 수상하며 국제적인 경쟁력을 다시 한번 입증했다.
축제는 특히 '베스트 신문삽지(Best Newspaper Insert/Supplement)'와 '베스트 홍보책자(Best Promotional Brochure)' 부문에서 금상을, '베스트 친환경 프로그램(Best Green Program)' 부문에서 동상을 차지했다.
세계 무대에서 우수성과 지속가능성을 인정받아
1956년 창설되어 전 세계 50여 개국이 회원국으로 가입된 IFEA World는 매년 세계 각국의 우수 축제를 발굴하여 시상하는 축제 분야의 중심 기구다.
매년 봄 광안리 해변에서 전통 어촌 문화를 현대적으로 재현하는 광안리어방축제는 관광객들에게 다채로운 볼거리와 즐길 거리를 제공해왔다. 특히 2023년부터 축제장 전역에 다회용기를 전면 도입하며 지속 가능한 친환경 축제로 확고히 자리매김했다. 이러한 노력으로 국내에서도 인정받아 문화체육관광부 지정 '2024~2025 문화관광축제'로 선정되었으며, 문체부 장관상까지 수상했다.
이번 피너클 어워드에서 광안리어방축제는 베스트 신문삽지 부문에서 "축제의 핵심 메시지를 효과적으로 담아낸 구성과 디자인"으로 높은 평가를 받았다. 또한 베스트 홍보책자 부문에서는 "다채로운 프로그램과 정보를 알기 쉽게 전달한 홍보물의 완성도"를 인정받았다. 친환경 프로그램 부문에서는 "다회용기 전면 도입 등 지속 가능한 운영 방식"이 긍정적인 평가를 받아 동상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.
2년 연속 수상으로 글로벌 축제로의 도약
이번 수상은 광안리어방축제가 지난해 'Best Cover Design' 금상에 이어 2년 연속 피너클 어워드에서 성과를 거둔 것이다. 이는 축제가 세계적으로 경쟁력을 갖춘 매력적인 축제로 자리매김하고 있음을 보여줬다.
강성태 수영구청장은 "2년 연속 세계축제협회 어워드에서 성과를 거둔 것은 축제의 우수성과 가능성을 국제적으로 인정받은 결과"라며, "앞으로도 광안리어방축제가 대한민국을 넘어 세계 대표 글로벌 축제로 성장할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.

The IFEA World, established in 1956 and a central organization in the global festival community with over 50 member countries, annually recognizes outstanding festivals worldwide.
Held every spring on the scenic Gwanganli Beach, the Gwanganli Eobang Festival modernizes traditional fishing village culture, offering diverse attractions for tourists. Notably, the festival has solidified its position as a sustainable and eco-friendly event by fully introducing reusable containers across the entire venue since 2023. Domestically, this commitment has been recognized by its designation as a 2024–2025 Culture and Tourism Festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), alongside a Ministerial Commendation.
In the Pinnacle Awards, the Gwanganli Eobang Festival's Gold win for Best Newspaper Insert was highly praised for its "composition and design that effectively conveyed the core message of the festival." For Best Promotional Brochure, the material was recognized for the "completeness of the promotional material, which clearly and easily communicated diverse programs and information." The Bronze Award for Best Green Program acknowledged the festival's "sustainable operation methods, such as the comprehensive adoption of reusable containers."
Two Consecutive Years of Wins Signal Global Festival Leap
This achievement marks the festival’s second consecutive year of success at the Pinnacle Awards, following a Best Cover Design Gold win last year. This demonstrates the Gwanganli Eobang Festival's firm establishment as a globally competitive and attractive event.
Suyeong-gu Mayor Kang Sung-tae stated that achieving success at the IFEA World Awards for two consecutive years "is a result of international recognition for the festival’s excellence and potential." He added, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure the Gwanganli Eobang Festival grows from a representative Korean festival into a global festival."
