[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 1일 중소벤처기업부 주관 ‘2025년 지역 주도형 AI 대전환 공모사업에’ 선정돼 국비 총 140억 원을 확보했다.
13개 시도가 신청해 경남을 포함한 5개 시도가 최종 사업 대상자로 선정됐다.
이는 경남도와 지역 국회의원, (재)경남테크노파크 등이 협업해 이뤄낸 쾌거다.
이 사업은 첨단 컴퓨팅 인프라를 광역지자체에 구축하고, 광역지자체가 중심이 되어 지역 산업 특성을 반영한 인공지능(AI) 사업단을 구성해 중소기업을 위한 맞춤형 인공지능(AI) 솔루션을 개발·실증하는 사업이다.
사업 기간은 올해 10월부터 내년 12월까지며, 2년간 국비 140억 원, 지방비 46억 7천만 원, 민간 부담금 46억 7천만 원이 투입된다.
경남테크노파크 등 8개 기관이 참여하는 경남도 컨소시엄은 제조AI 데이터센터를 기반으로 도내 중소 제조기업의 인공지능(AI) 전환을 지원할 예정이다.
도는 우주항공·방산·기계 등 주력 산업의 중소기업 3~5개 사를 선정해(총 30개사), 이 사업에서 개발한 인공지능(AI) 솔루션을 적용한 후 동종 벤더사를 중심으로 확대해 나간다는 계획이다.
세탁기 드럼통 제작 공정에 AI 기술을 적용한 도내 중소기업에서 제품 불량률이 60%가량 감소하는 효과를 거둔 사례로 미뤄 보아, 이 사업에 참여하는 30개 중소 제조기업도 인공지능 전환을 통한 매출액 12% 향상 등의 성과가 나타날 것으로 기대된다.
도는 인공지능(AI) 전문기업 80여 개사와 함께 ‘제조 AI 지원단’을 구성한다. 데이터 수집부터 AI솔루션의 현장 적용까지, 모든 중소기업이 AI 기술을 활용할 수 있도록 밀착 지원한다. 네이버 클라우드, LG전자 등 국내 최고 AI 기업도 솔루션 개발·적용 자문에 동참할 계획이다.
또한, 경남 최초의 공공형 인공지능(AI) 인프라인 ‘제조 AI 데이터센터’도 구축·운영한다. GPU, 워크스테이션 등 고성능 컴퓨팅 인프라와 학습프로그램, AI솔루션 팩 등을 통합 제공하고 도내 대학, 기업이 언제든 이용할 수 있도록 24시간 개방한다.
전문인력 양성을 위해 경남대, 경상국립대, 인제대, 국립창원대 4개 대학 중심의 AI 실습·교육 인프라를 구축하고, 프로젝트 기반 학습과 기업 인턴십을 연계한다. 또한 제조 AI 스타트업 역량 강화를 위한 창업 지원·컨설팅 프로그램도 지원 계획이다.
윤인국 산업국장은 “경남도는 제조 분야 중소기업이 밀집한, 중소 제조기업의 인공지능 전환 사업의 최적지.”라며, “이번 공모사업을 통해 경남이 대한민국 제조 AI 및 중소기업 인공지능 전환을 선도할 수 있는 모델이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
한편, 경남도는 ‘제조 AI의 메카, 경상남도’를 목표로 제조산업에 특화된 AI 산업 육성 및 생태계 조성을 위해 AI 인프라 구축·기술 개발·인재양성 사업 등을 중점적으로 추진하고 있다.
올해에만 공모사업 등을 통해 12개 국책 사업을 유치하며 국비 6천803억 원을 확보하였다. 특히 1조원 규모의 ‘피지컬 AI 기술 개발 및 실증사업’이 예타 면제 승인을 받는 등 제조산업의 인공지능 전환이 더욱 탄력을 받을 것으로 기대된다.
