2일 여수시에 따르면 유네스코 세계유산 등재 신청과 관련해 지난달 26일부터 전날까지 국제자연보전연맹(IUCN)에 대한 현장실사가 성공적으로 마무리됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 실사는 국가유산청과 해양수산부가 공동으로 지난 1월 유네스코에 제출한 '한국의갯벌 2단계(Getbol, Korean Tidal Flats Phase Ⅱ)' 확대 등재 신청에 따른 것이다.
특히 여자만 여수갯벌이 등재 대상에 포함돼 국제적 자연유산으로서 가치를 심층 평가받았다.
