충남 당진시 스마트팜사관학교에 입주한 청년농업인들이 데이터 기반의 스마트 영농을 통해 방울토마토 첫 수확에 나섰다.
당진시농업기술센터는 20일 스마트팜사관학교 C동에 입주한 청년농업인 4명이 올해 작기(作期) 방울토마토를 본격 수확하기 시작했다고 밝혔다.
이들은 지난 8월 15일 ‘노나리’ 품종의 모종을 정식했으며, 10월 16일부터 첫 수확을 시작했다.
스마트팜사관학교는 첨단 환경제어 시스템을 활용해 작물 생육 데이터를 실시간 관리하고, 청년농업인들이 자립영농 기반을 다질 수 있도록 실습 중심 교육을 운영하고 있다.
이번 작기에서는 기존 방식과 달리 사이심기(補植) 과정을 생략한 재배법을 도입해 생육 변화와 수량, 품질에 미치는 영향을 실증 중이다.
센터는 이를 통해 스마트팜 재배 기술의 효율성을 높이고, 향후 당진형 농업기술 모델 개발에 활용할 계획이다.
이전 작기(2024년 8월~2025년 7월)에는 약 101t의 방울토마토를 생산해 4억5천만 원의 매출을 올린 바 있다. 올해도 이를 뛰어넘는 생산성과 품질 향상을 목표로 하고 있다.
센터는 첫 수확물 일부를 대전오정농산물도매시장에 출하했으며, 향후 직거래 및 온라인 판로 확대에도 나설 방침이다.
당진시농업기술센터 관계자는 “청년농업인들의 현장 경험이 지역 농업의 경쟁력으로 이어질 수 있도록 스마트팜 사관학교 운영을 지속 지원하겠다”고 전했다.

They planted seedlings of the "Nonari" variety on August 15th and began their first harvest on October 16th.
