브레이크뉴스 김충열 정치전문기자 = 광복회를 비롯한 대한민국 17개 보훈 공법단체장들은 지난 20일 국립 서울 현충원에서 ‘대한 독립군 무명용사 추모제’를 계기로 모여 ‘미국의 부당한 통상압력 철회와 한미동맹의 진정한 회복’을 촉구하는 대한민국 17개 보훈공법단체(이하 단체) 결의문’을 주한미합중국 대사 앞으로 21일 보냈다.

보훈 공법단체장들은 결의문을 통해 “우리 대한민국의 보훈공법단체장 일동은 2025년 10월 20일, 국립 서울현충원 대한독립군 무명용사 위령탑 앞에서 거행된 추모식에 참석하여 이름 없이 독립을 위해 산화하신 선열들의 희생정신을 되새겼다”며, “그 숭고한 영령 앞에서 선열들이 엄혹한 시기에 찾아놓은 경제주권을 지키고, ‘자유와 정의, 평화의 가치’를 지키는 것이 진정한 한미동맹의 길임을 확인했다”고 밝혔다.
그러면서 “최근 미국 트럼프 대통령이 혈맹국인 우리나라에 대해 펼치는 일련의 관세압력을 포함한 국제 통상정책은 동맹국에 대해 지나치게 과하다는 것이 우리 보훈단체장들의 입장”이라며 “우리 보훈단체와 국민은 미국이 추구하는 자국우선주의의 취지를 이해 하지만, 그것이 동맹국을 압박하거나 불공정한 경제적 수단으로 활용되는 것에 대해서는 우려를 표하지 않을 수 없다. 동맹국은 계산적인 이해의 교환이 아니라 가치의 공유 위에 세워져야 하기 때문"이라고 설명했다.
보훈단체장들은 “우리는 한 세기를 넘는 세월 동안 자유와 평등 의 가치를 위해 싸워 온 미국의 역사와 전통을 존중하고, 한국전쟁에서, 그리고 베트남전쟁에서 자유 민주주의 가치를 위해 함께 피를 나눴던 혈맹정신을 잊지 않고 있지만 오늘날 한미관계는 단순한 안보협력이나 경제교류를 넘어, 양국 국민의 신뢰와 도덕적 연대에 기초한 새로운 동반자 관계로 나아가야 할 시점에 서 있다”고 의미를 부여했다.
이어 “한미 두 나라가 지혜를 모으면 다가오는 경주 아시아태평양지역경제협력제(APEC)에서의 성공을 비롯, 아시아 태평양 지역을 포함한 국제정치, 경제 무대에서 진정한 우정과 신뢰를 회복할 수 있다고 확신한다”면서 결의 사항을 덧붙였다.
우리 보훈단체장들은 “미국 정부는 동맹국인 대한민국에 대한 부당한 통상압력과 일방적 관세조치를 중단하고, 상호호혜적 협력의 틀 안에서 상호존중과 신뢰를 바탕으로 진정한 동맹정신을 복원해야 한다”며, “우리 보훈단체장들은 엄혹한 시기 일본 제국주의 압제 속에서 국가의 주권을 수호한 선열들의 정신을 이어 국가의 통상주권을 수호하고, 국민경제의 안정을 위해 자주적이고 원칙 있는 외교노선을 견지하는 대한민국 정부의 노력을 적극 지지한다.”고 밝혔다.

이어 “우리는 미국이 한 때 인류의 자유를 수호한 세계의 등불이었음을 기억한다. 그러나 지금의 한국과 일본, 유럽 등 전통적인 우방국과 동맹국에 대한 일방적인 관세압력은 그 빛을 흐리게 하고 있다. 우리의 요청은 반미(反美)의 언어가 아니다. 그것은 진정한 동맹의 가치를 되살리기 위한 우정과 양심의 호소”라고 밝혔다.
