브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차는 지난 20일부터 23일까지 4일 동안 천안 글로벌러닝센터(GLC)에서 제15회 월드스킬올림픽을 개최했다고 24일 밝혔다.
1995년 첫 대회를 시작으로 올해로 15회째를 맞는 월드스킬올림픽은 격년으로 열리며, 전세계 현대차 정비사들이 실력을 겨루고 기술정보를 교류하는 대회다.
올해 대회에는 각 권역별 예선을 거쳐 △북중미 5명 △중남미 12명 △유럽 21명 △아중동 14명 △아세안 23명 등 총 50개국 75명의 우수 정비사들이 참가했다.
현대차는 20일부터 22일까지 △내연기관차 △전기차 △상용차 등 3개 부문에서 각각 필기와 실기 전형을 통해 평가를 진행했다.
특히, 현대차는 지난 대회부터 실제와 가까운 환경에서 고난도·고위험의 정비 과정을 안전하게 평가할 수 있는 가상현실(Virtual Reality, VR) 평가를 도입했다.
현대차는 이번 대회 평가 데이터를 향후 정비사 교육에도 적극 활용할 계획이다.
현대차는 대회 마지막 날인 23일 시상식을 열고 각 부문별 우수자에게 금·은·동상 메달과 상금을 수여했다. 참가자 가운데 가장 높은 점수를 기록한 도비다스 콜(Dovydas Cole, 미국)이 종합우승을 차지했다.
한편, 올해 시상식은 호세 무뇨스 현대차 대표이사 사장이 영상을 통해 제15회 월드스킬올림픽의 성공적인 개최를 축하하고, 참가한 정비사들에게 격려를 전해 의미를 더했다.
