【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대한민국시장군수구청장협의회와 2026대구세계마스터즈육상경기대회 조직위원회가 대회 성공 개최를 위한 업무협약을 맺었다.
양 기관은 지난 26일 충남 보령 머드테마파크에서 협약식을 갖고, 대회 홍보와 전국 지방자치단체의 적극적인 참여, 운영 지원 등에 힘을 모으기로 했다.
협약식에는 조재구 대한민국시장군수구청장협의회 대표회장과 진기훈 대회 조직위원회 사무총장 등 주요 관계자들이 참석했다.
이번 협약은 오는 8월 22일부터 9월 3일까지 열리는 대구세계마스터즈육상경기대회를 전국적으로 안정적으로 운영하기 위함이다.
이번 대회에는 약 90개국에서 1만 1천여 명이 참가할 예정으로, 지방정부 차원의 홍보와 참가자 독려, 지역 인프라 연계가 큰 과제로 떠올랐다.
협약에 따라 양 기관은 온·오프라인 매체를 활용한 대회 홍보, 지역 생활체육 육상인의 참가와 관람 확대, 인력 및 자원봉사자 지원, 참가자 편의를 위한 숙박·교통·문화·관광 연계 등 다양한 분야에서 협력할 계획이다.
대회 준비 과정에서 추가로 필요한 지원도 지속적으로 논의하며 함께 추진해 나가기로 했다.
조재구 대표회장은 “세계 90개국이 참여하는 국제대회가 대구에서 개최되는 만큼, 226개 기초지방자치단체를 대표하는 협의회가 한마음으로 대회를 든든하게 뒷받침하겠다”며 “이번 대회를 통해 대구는 물론 전국 각 지역의 문화관광자원이 널리 알려지고, 대한민국의 위상이 높아지길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The Korea Association of Mayors and County Mayors and the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Daegu World Masters Athletics Games have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure the success of the Games.
