[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시 진해구가 연말을 맞아 지역 사회의 따뜻한 나눔 문화를 확산하는 새로운 방식을 선보였다. 진해구는 지난 10일, 지역 사회에서 꾸준한 선행을 이어오고 있는 베이커리 슈에뜨브레드(대표 김온)와 손 잡고, 지역아동센터 아동 20명을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 크리스마스 케이크 만들기’ 체험 행사를 개최했다.
이번 행사는 지난해 첫 개최 당시 아동들의 폭발적인 반응에 힘입어 두 번째로 마련되었다. 아이들의 접근성을 최대한 높이기 위해 베이커리 매장이 아닌 지역아동센터로 직접 찾아가 진행했다.
슈에뜨브레드에서 준비한 신선한 케이크 시트와 생크림, 다양한 장식 재료가 아이들 앞에 펼쳐졌다. 아이들은 서툰 손길이지만 자신만의 개성을 담아 크림을 바르고 장식하며, 세상에 단 하나뿐인 크리스마스 케이크를 완성했다.
슈에뜨브레드는 이번 체험 행사 외에도 2024년 4월부터 현재까지 저소득 아동들의 생일과 특별한 기념일을 축하하기 위해 매월 13개의 케이크를 정기적으로 기탁하는 등 꾸준한 나눔 활동을 이어오고 있다.
김온 대표는 “아이들이 케이크를 만들면서 즐거워하는 모습을 보니 오히려 제가 더 큰 선물을 받는 기분”이라며, “비록 서툴더라도 스스로 완성한 케이크를 보며 성취감과 기쁨을 느꼈으면 좋겠다”고 소감을 전했다.
