2023년부터 이어진 유치 노력 결실… 대전·청주 원정 금융 불편 해소
최민호 시장 “자족기능 확충 및 첨단산업 육성의 든든한 파트너 될 것”
세종특별자치시(시장 최민호)의 숙원 사업 중 하나였던 한국산업은행 세종지점이 드디어 문을 열고 본격적인 영업에 돌입했다. 이번 지점 신설로 세종 지역 기업들의 정책금융 접근성이 획기적으로 개선될 전망이다.
세종시는 19일 어진동 단국세종빌딩에서 한국산업은행 세종지점 개점식을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 이날 행사에는 최민호 세종시장을 비롯해 김복규 산업은행 수석부행장, 강준현 국회의원, 김진동 세종상공회의소 회장 등 지역 정·관·재계 인사들이 대거 참석해 개점을 축하했다.
세종시에 최초로 들어선 산업은행 세종지점은 앞으로 관내 기업들을 대상으로 기업금융 지원 ,투자 연계 ,정책자금 공급 등 국책은행으로서의 핵심 기능을 수행하게 된다.
그동안 세종시 내 기업들은 산업은행 지점이 없어 대전이나 청주 등 인근 도시의 지점을 방문해야 하는 번거로움을 겪어왔다. 하지만 이번 세종지점 개점으로 근거리에서 맞춤형 정책자금을 적기에 공급받을 수 있는 기반이 마련됐다.
이번 개점은 세종시의 전략적인 유치 활동이 만들어낸 성과다. 세종시는 지난 2023년부터 산업은행 본점과 충청지역본부를 수시로 방문해 세종지점 설치의 당위성을 피력하고 공식 건의를 이어오는 등 공을 들여왔다.
세종시는 지점 개점에 그치지 않고, 향후 한국산업은행과 별도의 업무협약(MOU)을 체결해 지역 기업들의 성장을 체계적으로 뒷받침할 계획이다. 또한 지점이 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 행정적 지원도 아끼지 않기로 했다.
최민호 세종시장은 “산업은행 유치는 세종시가 단순한 행정도시를 넘어 자족기능을 갖춘 미래전략수도로 나아가기 위한 핵심 과제였다”며 “세종지점이 전국에서 가장 활발하게 지역의 미래 산업을 키워낼 수 있도록 시 차원의 모든 행정력을 집중하겠다”고 강조했다.
산업은행 세종지점의 가세로 세종시가 추진 중인 첨단 산업 유치와 지역 강소기업 육성 전략은 한층 탄력을 받을 것으로 보인다.
