강 교육감은 23일 오전 대구시교육청 여민실에서 열린 신년 기자간담회에서 “3선 도전에 대한 공식적인 선언은 선거법을 충분히 검토한 뒤 가능한 시기에 하겠다”면서도 “처음 교육감이 되었을 때부터 교육을 책임 있게 이끌고 정책을 완성하려면 최소한의 기간은 필요하다고 생각해 왔다”고 밝혔다.
강 교육감은 “교육 정책은 단기간 성과로 평가할 수 없는 영역”이라며 “그동안 추진해 온 정책들을 흔들림 없이 연계해 완성하는 것이 중요하다는 판단에는 변함이 없다”고 말했다. 이는 향후 교육 행정의 연속성을 강조한 발언으로 풀이된다.
