파주시가 노인 복지 인프라 확충을 위한 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.
시는 지난 22일 '시립 노인요양시설 건립 타당성 및 기본계획 수립' 연구용역 최종보고회를 개최하고, 2029년 준공을 목표로 파주형 시립요양원 건립 사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.
이날 보고회는 김경일 파주시장을 비롯해 관련 국·부서장, 서영대학교 사회복지행정과 김민철 교수가 자문위원으로 참석한 가운데 용역 수행기관인 ㈜브레인로드의 결과 보고와 질의응답 순으로 진행됐다.

연구용역 결과에 따르면 파주형 시립요양원은 단순 요양시설이 아닌 '노인 통합돌봄 거점센터'로 조성된다.
지하 1층부터 지상 4층, 연면적 6,000㎡ 규모로 건립될 이 시설은 시립요양원, 시립주야간보호센터, 치매노인 일시보호 쉼터를 포함한 복합시설로 구성되며, 최대 150명 규모의 노인에게 상시 돌봄 서비스를 제공할 예정이다.
특히 이번 사업은 성매매집결지 공간 전환 사업과 연계해 연풍리 일대에 조성된다는 점에서 주목된다.
과거 침체된 공간을 돌봄과 치유의 공간으로 재탄생시키고, 지역 주민과 연계한 복합 커뮤니티 기능까지 수행할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.
파주시는 연구용역 최종 과업이 확정되는 즉시 세부 실행계획을 수립하고, 국·도비 공모 신청, 부지 및 예산 확보, 인허가 절차를 차례로 진행할 계획이다.
