【브레이크뉴스 고령】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 정희용 국회의원(경북 고령·성주·칠곡)이 2025년 한 해 동안 지역 장학금과 재난 피해 지역 후원금으로 약 1,700만 원을 기부한 것으로 나타났다. 지역 교육 지원과 재난 복구를 동시에 꾸준히 이어오고 있다는 평가다.
정 의원은 고령군교육발전위원회, 성주군별고을장학회, 칠곡군호이장학회에 매달 각각 100만 원씩 정기적으로 장학금을 기탁하고 있다. 2020년부터 최근까지 세 군에 전달한 장학금 누적액은 6,900만 원에 달한다.
재난 피해 지원 역시 끊이지 않았다. 지난 3월 경북 안동, 영덕, 영양, 의성, 청송 등 5개 시·군이 대형 산불로 큰 피해를 입자 복구 지원에 나섰고, 6월에는 지역 농수축산물 소비 촉진을 위해 각 100만 원씩 고향사랑기부금을 전달했다. 또 7월에는 수해 복구 성금, 9월에는 강릉 가뭄 피해 성금 등 국민의힘 차원의 재난 성금 모금에도 적극 참여했다.
입법 활동 성과를 사회에 환원하는 사례도 있었다. 대표 발의한 산림재난방지법안으로 제5회 대한민국 국회 의정대상에서 입법활동 부문 우수위원으로 선정되며 받은 상금 500만 원 전액을 경북 산불 피해 지역에 기부했다.
정 의원은 “배움에 힘쓰는 고령·성주·칠곡 학생들이 더 좋은 환경에서 학업에 전념하길 바란다”며 “재난 피해 지역에도 새로운 활력이 더해졌으면 좋겠다. 앞으로도 먼저 실천해 기부 문화를 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

He was selected as an Outstanding Member in the Legislative Activities category at the 5th National Assembly Legislative Awards for his contribution to the Forest Disaster Prevention Act, which he sponsored. Representative Jeong stated, "I hope that the students in Goryeong, Seongju, and Chilgok, who are dedicated to learning, can focus on their studies in a better environment. I hope this will also revitalize the disaster-stricken areas. I will continue to take action and expand the culture of donation."
