충남 태안군이 ‘2025년 태안 방문의 해’를 성공적으로 마무리하며, 역대 최다인 1809만 명의 방문객을 유치했다고 8일 밝혔다.
태안군은 올해 ‘2026 태안 방문의 해’ 연장을 통해 연간 2,000만 명 시대를 향한 본격적인 도전에 나선다.
한국관광공사 ‘한국관광데이터랩’ 통계에 따르면, 2025년 동안 태안을 찾은 국내외 방문객은 총 1,809만 명으로 2024년(1,733만 명)보다 약 76만 명(4.37%) 증가했다.
이는 당초 예상치를 웃도는 성과로, 고향사랑기부제 시행 이후 역대 최대치를 기록했다.
1809만 명의 방문객을 유치한 태안군은 충남도내 15개 시·군 중 방문객 규모는 천안, 아산, 공주, 당진, 서산에 이어 6위, 군 단위로는 1위를 차지했다. 방문객 증가율 역시 전년 대비 4.37%로, 도내 9위 수준을 기록하며 ‘관광 태안’의 브랜드 가치를 높였다.
태안군은 지난해 해수욕장 운영 효율성을 높이기 위해 기존 27개소 중 5개를 감축했음에도 불구하고, 여름철 해수욕장 방문객이 3년 연속 160만 명을 돌파하는 등 전국 최고 수준의 휴양지 위상을 유지했다.
계절별로도 균형 잡힌 성장세가 눈에 띄었다. 5월에는 약 195만 명, 10월에는 221만 명이 찾아 성수기 외에도 안정적인 관광 수요를 보였으며, 12월에도 103만 명이 방문해 겨울철 관광지로의 가능성도 입증했다.
태안군은 지난해 방문의 해 운영을 통해 한달살이 프로젝트 ,태안투어패스 ,코레일 연계 기차여행 등 체류형 관광 콘텐츠를 확충하는 한편, 캠핑페스티벌 ,전국바다낚시대회 등 참여형 프로그램을 도입해 사계절 방문이 가능한 관광지로 자리매김했다고 분석했다.
올해는 이러한 성과를 발판으로 ‘2026 태안 방문의 해’를 연장 운영하며 대규모 국제행사인 태안국제원예치유박람회 및 서해안 최초 태안해양치유센터 개관과 연계한 관광 활성화 전략을 본격화할 예정이다.
또한 야간관광 자원 확대, 생활·체험형 관광상품 개발 등 체류형 관광 기반을 강화해 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣겠다는 구상이다.
태안군 관계자는 “1,809만 명이라는 기록은 군민과 공직자가 함께 일군 값진 성과”라며 “태안의 풍부한 자연과 치유 자원을 기반으로 재방문율을 높이고, 올해는 2,000만 명 시대를 여는 원년으로 만들겠다”고 말했다.

Building on these achievements, this year, the county plans to extend the "Visit Year 2026" initiative to revitalize tourism in conjunction with the Taean International Horticultural and Healing Expo, a large-scale international event, and the opening of the Taean Marine Healing Center, the first of its kind on the west coast.
Furthermore, the county plans to bolster its tourism infrastructure by expanding nighttime tourism resources and developing lifestyle and experiential tourism products, thereby revitalizing the local economy.
A Taean County official stated, "The record of 18.09 million visitors is a valuable achievement achieved jointly by the county residents and public officials.
