영진사이버대학교(총장 도한신) 사회복지계열은 지난 24일 사회봉사단과 함께 대구 지역의 동절기 취약계층을 찾아 성금 200만 원과 연탄 약 2,000장을 전달했다. 이날 교수진과 재학생, 사회봉사단 관계자들은 직접 어려운 이웃의 집을 방문해 연탄을 손수 배달하며 봉사활동에 나섰다.
이번 연탄 나눔은 겨울철 난방 부담이 큰 가정에 힘이 되고, 대학이 지역사회에 기여하며 나눔 문화를 확산하고자 마련됐다. 봉사자들은 사랑의연탄나눔운동본부에 성금 200만 원을 기부했고, 해당 성금은 약 2,000장의 연탄으로 환산돼 실제 현장 봉사에 사용됐다. 참여자들은 무거운 연탄을 하나씩 옮겨 나르면서 난방 지원 뿐만 아니라 이웃들의 안부도 살폈다.
봉사에 참여한 한 학생은 “작은 힘이지만 정성을 담아 직접 연탄을 전달하니 한층 더 큰 보람을 느꼈다”며, “앞으로도 지역사회 봉사에 꾸준히 함께하고 싶다”고 소감을 전했다.
사회복지계열 관계자는 “이번 봉사활동이 학생들이 복지와 돌봄의 진정한 가치를 현장에서 배우는 계기이자, 대학이 지역사회와 함께하는 뜻깊은 시간이었다”며, “앞으로도 소외계층을 위한 나눔 활동을 지속적으로 이어갈 예정”이라고 밝혔다.
한편, 영진사이버대학교는 사회복지계열과 사회봉사단을 중심으로 지역사회와 연계한 다양한 봉사 프로그램을 정기적으로 운영할 예정이다. 대학 측은 앞으로도 재학생들의 사회적 책임 의식을 높이고, ‘나눔과 봉사가 일상이 되는 대학 문화’ 확산에 앞장선다는 계획이다.
