포천시는 지난 5일 포천시여성회관에서 관내 인삼 재배 농업인 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘인삼 재배기술 교육’을 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 교육은 최근 이상 기후로 인한 농작물 피해가 늘어나는 상황에서, 선제적인 대응책을 마련하고 고품질 인삼 생산 기반을 다지기 위해 마련됐다. 특히 현장의 목소리를 반영하기 위해 개성인삼농업협동조합과 손을 잡고 합동으로 진행해 농가들의 호응을 얻었다.
이날 강단에는 국립원예특작과학원 특용작물육종과 김장욱 농업연구관이 올랐다. 김 연구관은 최근 인삼 농가의 가장 큰 골칫거리인 병해충 방제 요령부터 폭염 등 고온 피해에 대응하는 최신 기술까지, 현장에 즉시 적용 가능한 실질적인 노하우를 아낌없이 전수했다.
교육에 참석한 한 농가는 "여름철만 되면 폭염 때문에 인삼이 말라죽을까 봐 노심초사했는데, 오늘 배운 관리법이 큰 도움이 될 것 같다"며 만족감을 표했다.
