9일 오후 3시, 대구 달서구 서남신시장에는 강은희 대구시교육감과 산하 각 교육지원청 교육장, 직속기관장, 직원 등 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘설맞이 전통시장 장보기 행사’가 진행됐다.
참석자들은 직접 제수용품과 식재료, 생필품 등을 구매하며, 시장 상인들과 대화도 나눴다.
이번 행사는 대형마트와 온라인 쇼핑 확대 등으로 위축된 전통시장에 활력을 불어넣고, 지역 상권을 응원하자는 취지로 마련됐다.
대구시교육청은 매년 명절을 전후해 전통시장 이용 장려 행사를 이어오고 있다.
이날 강은희 교육감과 직원들은 시장 곳곳을 돌며 명절 물가를 직접 살피고 상인들의 애로사항도 청취했다.
또, 시민들에게 전통시장 이용을 당부했다. 상인들 역시 “공공기관에서 장보기를 해주니 실제로 경기 활력에 도움이 된다”며 긍정적인 반응을 보였다.
