경기도와 경기주택도시공사(GH)가 K-컬처밸리 복합개발사업의 기본협약 체결을 당초 예정된 2월에서 연말인 12월로 돌연 연기하면서 고양시의회가 강력 반발하고 나섰다.
고양시의회 'K-컬처밸리 성공적 완성을 위한 특별위원회(이하 특위)'는 경기도의 일방적인 결정을 규탄하며 촉구 결의안 발의를 예고했다.

경기도 측은 지난 6일 라이브네이션 컨소시엄과의 기본협약 체결 시점을 10개월 미루겠다고 발표했다.
현재 17% 공정률을 보이는 아레나 구조물에 대한 정밀 안전점검 기간을 4개월에서 8개월로 확대하고, 야외 임시공연장 운영 및 공공지원시설 확충 등 사업의 완성도를 높이기 위한 추가 논의가 필요하다는 것이 연기 사유다.
이에 대해 특위는 즉각 반발에 나섰다.
특위는 아레나 시설의 안전 확보에는 공감하지만, 협약 체결 직전에 이루어진 갑작스러운 연기 통보는 행정의 책임성과 예측 가능성을 저버린 무책임한 처사라고 비판했다.

최성원 위원장은 "K-컬처밸리는 고양시의 미래 경쟁력을 좌우할 핵심 사업"이라며 "대한민국 문화산업의 중심지로 자리매김할 때까지 경기도의 실행력 있는 행정을 강력히 요구하겠다"고 밝혔다.
한편 최성원 위원장, 손동숙 부위원장을 포함해 고덕희, 김수진, 김학영, 김해련, 이철조, 조현숙 의원 등 총 8명으로 구성된 특별위원회는 오는 6월 30일까지 K-컬처밸리 사업의 성공적 완수를 위해 모든 역량을 집중할 방침이다.
