이번 평가는 전국 561개 공공기관을 대상으로 ▲사전정보공표 ▲원문공개 ▲청구처리 ▲고객관리 ▲제도운영 등 정보공개 전반의 수준을 종합적으로 점검했다.
공단은 기관 특성과 국민 수요를 반영해 사전정보공표 항목을 지속적으로 확대하고, 국민이 필요한 정보를 사전에 쉽게 확인할 수 있도록 정보 접근성을 개선해 왔다. 또한 정보공개 청구 처리의 신속성과 정확성을 제고해 고객만족도 부문에서 만점을 획득하는 등 공개 품질 측면에서도 높은 평가를 받았다.
특히 임원 이상 결재문서의 원문공개율을 90% 이상으로 끌어올리며 원문공개 부문에서 우수한 성과를 거둔 점이 긍정적으로 작용했다.
조성돈 한국원자력환경공단 이사장은 “투명하고 적극적인 정보공개를 통해 국민이 신뢰하는 방폐물 관리 전담기관으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
