대전 중구 박용갑 국회의원(더불어민주당)이 국토교통부에 서대전역과 수서역을 잇는 KTX 노선 신설을 공식 요청하며 교통 인프라 확충을 촉구했다고 12일 밝혔다.
박 의원은 서대전역 KTX 이용객이 2022년 94만6천명에서 2025년 149만7천명으로 3년간 58% 증가했다고 지적했다.
대전 도안신도시와 노은지구 개발로 서남부 인구가 급증한 가운데, 운행 횟수 증편 없이 수요만 폭증한 실정이다.
박용갑 의원은 정부의 ‘서대전역 복합환승센터 개발’과 이재명 정부 대전 국정과제인 ‘5극 3특 전략’ 완성에 서대전역-수서역 KTX가 필수라고 강조했다.
고속철도 통합 로드맵 발표 이후 국토부와 수차례 협의하며 강남 수서역 직결 필요성을 역설해왔다.
정부는 작년 12월9일 고속철도 통합 로드맵을 발표한 뒤, 한국철도공사와 SR이 서울역·수서역 KTX 교차 투입을 추진 중이다.
2월25일부터 수서역 출발 KTX와 서울역 출발 SRT가 상호 운행하며 수도권 접근성을 강화한다.
박 의원은 “서대전역에서 강남 수서까지 직결 KTX가 편성돼야 지역 균형발전과 교통 허브화가 가능하다”며 신속한 노선 검토를 촉구했다.
