허태정 대전시장 예비후보가 강풍 속 산불 진화 작업이 이어지고 있는 충남 예산군 산불 현장을 찾아 진화 인력들을 격려하며 도민 안전을 강조했다.
허 후보는 22일 예산 산불 피해 지역을 방문해 “충남의 안전보다 우선하는 것은 없다”며 “충남의 소중한 자연과 도민의 일상을 지키는 일이 가장 중요하다”고 말했다.
지난 21일 발생한 예산 산불은 주불은 잡힌 상태지만, 거센 바람으로 인한 재발화 가능성이 커 소방헬기가 계속 물을 투입하고 소방대원들이 잔불 정리에 총력을 기울이고 있다.
허 후보는 연이틀 화마와 싸우고 있는 소방대원·의용소방대원·자원봉사자들을 일일이 찾아가 손을 맞잡으며 “여러분의 헌신이 안전한 충남을 만드는 힘”이라며 깊은 감사의 뜻을 전했다.
그는 “무엇보다 중요한 것은 진화 인력의 안전”이라며 “끝까지 안전을 최우선에 두고 현장을 지켜달라”고 재차 당부했다.
현장에서 허 후보는 “겨울 내내 건조한 날씨가 이어지며 어느 때보다 산불 위험이 높은 시기”라며 “우리의 삶터를 지키기 위해 도민 모두가 산불 예방에 마음을 모아야 한다”고 강조했다.
