[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도는 25일 오전 창원 미래웨딩캐슬에서 ‘2026 이북5도민 경남연합회 신년인사회’를 개최하고 지역 내 이북도민 및 북한이탈주민들과 따뜻한 유대를 나눴다고 밝혔다.
이번 인사회는 경남에 터를 잡은 이북5도 실향민들의 망향가를 위로하고, 지역 사회의 당당한 구성원으로서 결속력을 다지기 위해 기획됐다. 행사에는 박완수 경상남도지사를 비롯해 손양영 함경남도지사, 신대우 이북5도 경남연합회장 등 주요 내빈과 도민회 관계자 120여 명이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.
이날 행사장에서는 도내 3개 기업과 단체의 자발적인 후원으로 조성된 장학금이 전달됐다. 장학금은 어려운 여건 속에서도 꿋꿋하게 학업에 정진하고 있는 북한이탈주민 자녀 6명에게 전달됐다.

박완수 도지사는 인사말을 통해 “이북 5도 도지사 체계가 유지되고 있다는 것은 대한민국이 평화통일을 위한 의지를 갖고 있다는 것”이라며 이북5도민 경남연합회의 역할에 대해 깊은 감사를 표했다.
이어 “통일의 길이 쉽지 않더라도 최소한 서로 오갈 수 있는 길은 열려야 한다”며, “고향을 그리워하는 어르신들이 생전에 북한을 방문할 수 있는 날이 오기를 바란다”고 말했다. 그러면서 “우리 경남에 살고 계신 분들은 모두 경남도민”이라며, “경남도는 이북5도민 경남연합회와 뜻을 모아 평화 통일을 향한 여정에 힘을 모으겠다”고 덧붙였다.
