대전 유성구가 제107주년 3·1절을 앞두고 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 독립유공자의 숭고한 희생정신을 기리는 자리를 마련했다.
정용래 유성구청장은 25일, 항일 무장투쟁에 앞장섰던 고(故) 오봉록 애국지사의 자녀 오우룡 씨의 가정을 직접 방문했다. 이번 방문은 선열들의 독립 정신을 되새기고 유가족에게 깊은 감사와 존경의 마음을 전하기 위해 진행됐다.
위문의 대상이 된 오봉록 애국지사는 평안북도 희천 출신으로, 교사 재직 시절 3·1 독립운동에 투신하며 본격적인 항일 행보를 시작했다.
그는 무장 독립운동 단체인 천마산대 제3중대에 입대해 군자금을 모집하고 친일 밀정을 생포하거나 주재소를 습격하는 등 치열한 전투를 벌였다.
1922년 만주로 이동한 후에도 중국군과 연합해 항일 교전을 이어갔으며, 천마산대 해산 이후에는 중국 연길현에서 교사와 한의사로 활동하며 민족 계몽 운동에 힘쓰다 광복 후 귀국했다. 정부는 그의 공훈을 인정해 1982년 대통령 표창을 추서한 바 있다.
정용래 구청장은 이날 방문에서 독립운동 정신이 우리 사회를 지탱하는 가장 소중한 가치임을 강조하며, 독립유공자 유족들이 자긍심을 갖고 살 수 있는 사회 분위기를 조성하는 데 최선을 다하겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
한편 유성구는 이번 방문 외에도 각 동 행정복지센터를 통해 관내에 거주하는 독립유공자 유족 44명 전원에게 위문품을 전달하며 예우를 다했다.

Yuseong District in Daejeon held an event to commemorate the noble sacrifices of independence activists who dedicated themselves to the independence of the country ahead of the 107th March 1st Independence Movement Day.
On the 25th, Yuseong District Mayor Jeong Yong-rae personally visited the home of Oh Woo-ryong, the son of the late patriot Oh Bong-rok, a leader in the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
