[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 사천시가 지역의 지질 자산인 ‘사천 선상지’를 세계적인 관광 명소로 육성하기 위한 대장정에 본격 돌입했다.
사천시는 26일 용현면 주문리 사천대교 아래 사업 현장에서 사천 선상지 테마 관광명소 조성사업 착공식을 가졌다.
이번 사업은 사천의 지질학적 특징인 부채꼴 모양의 ‘선상지’를 테마로 한 대규모 관광 프로젝트로 총사업비 187억 원(국비 50%, 도비 15%, 시비 35%)을 투입해 2026년 2월부터 2028년 2월까지 추진된다.
핵심 시설로 용현면 주문리 일원에 높이 65m 규모의 전망타워를 건립해 선상지의 절경과 사천만의 수려한 해안 경관을 한눈에 조망할 수 있도록 조성할 계획이다.

이와 함께 쉼터 조성, 특화 투어코스 개발 등을 통해 관광 인프라를 체계적으로 확충한다.
특히, 단순 관람형 시설을 넘어, 선상지의 지형적·지질학적 특성을 살린 체험형 교육 프로그램을 운영해 ‘체험형 교육 관광 거점’으로 육성한다는 방침이다.
농업용 우물과 지질 자원을 활용한 이색 콘텐츠 개발을 통해 차별화된 관광 스토리텔링도 강화한다.
시는 인근 무지갯빛 해안도로, 이순신 승전길 등 기존 관광자원과 연계되어 사천시 생태·문화 관광의 중심축 역할을 할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
