【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 진천군은 관내 노인요양시설을 대상으로 ‘노인요양시설 목욕침대 지원사업’을 완료했다고 26일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 거동이 불편한 와상, 중증 어르신들이 목욕 서비스 과정에서 겪을 수 있는 낙상사고를 예방하고, 돌봄 종사자의 과도한 신체 부담을 줄이기 위해 추진됐다.
군은 총 4천615만 원의 사업비를 투입해 관내 노인요양시설 13개소에 이동식 목욕 전용 침대를 각 1대씩 지원했다.
도입된 목욕침대는 높낮이 조절과 체위 변경이 가능한 특수 장비로, 욕실 내 이동과 목욕 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 안전사고를 예방하도록 설계됐다.
그동안 현장에서는 와상 어르신을 직접 부축하거나 들어 올리는 과정에서 어르신의 낙상 위험이 상존했으며, 반복적인 이동·부축 업무로 인해 요양보호사의 허리 통증, 근골격계 질환 발생 우려도 제기돼 왔다.
군은 이번 장비 보급을 통해 △어르신 심리적 안정감 확보 △낙상, 안전사고 예방 △요양보호사 업무 효율성 증대 △노동환경 개선 등 돌봄의 질이 한층 향상될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
목욕침대를 사용한 한 요양보호사는 “와상 어르신을 이동할 때마다 혹시 다치지 않을까 걱정이 컸는데, 이제는 부담이 크게 줄어 어르신을 더욱 안전하고 편안하게 모실 수 있게 됐다”고 말했다.
김남현 주민복지과장은 “목욕은 어르신의 위생과 건강에 직결되는 중요한 서비스인 만큼 무엇보다 안전한 환경이 우선돼야 한다”며 “앞으로도 현장의 의견을 적극 반영해 어르신과 종사자 모두가 만족하는 ‘생거진천형 복지’를 실현해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
