이재명 대통령 방문을 계기로 2일(현지시간) 한·싱가포르 간 자유무역협정(FTA) 개선협상 개시 합의 공동선언문 발표와 함께 AI(인공지능))·디지털·과학기술SMR(소형모듈원전)등 분야에서 5건 MOU(양해각서)가 체결된다.
강유정 청와대 대변인은 이날 오전 이 대통령 싱가포르 국빈 방문 관련 서면 브리핑을 통해 이같이 전했다.
이 대통령은 이날 첫 일정으로 싱가포르 정부 청사에서 열리는 타르만 샨무가라트남 대통령 부부 주관 공식 환영식·난초 명명식에 참석한다.
난초는 싱가포르 국화로 난초명명식 경우 외국 정상 등 주요 인사의 싱가포르 방문 시 난초 교배종에 방문 인사 이름을 붙이는 행사인 가운데 이 대통령 부부 이름이 붙게될 난초는 'Vanda(난초과 속명)'로 최종 이름은 'Vanda Lee Jae Myung Kim Hea Kyung'이 될 예정이다.
강 대변인은 "싱가포르의 독특한 외교 관례로 외국 국가들과의 우호 관계 강화·친선 도모를 목적으로 한다"고 전했다.
이 대통령은 타르만 대통령과 면담 후 로렌스 웡 총리를 만나 정상회담을 갖고 MOU 교환식·공동언론발표·친교 오찬 등을 함께 한다.
또 이날 오후 'AI 커넷트 서밋'에 참석 후 타르만 대통령 내외 주최 국빈 만찬 참석으로 싱가포르 일정을 마무리한다.
강 대변인은 "이번 국빈 방문을 통해 웡 총리와의 유대·신뢰가 더욱 깊어지고 한·싱가포르 전략적 동반자 관계 발전을 가속화하는 동력이 마련될 걸로 기대한다"며 "실질 협력 분야에서 통상·투자·인프라 등 기존 협력은 물론 AI 등 첨단기술·원전 같은 등 미래 유망 분야 성과를 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다"고 전했다.

Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung announced this in a written briefing on President Lee's state visit to Singapore this morning.
President Lee's first stop on the day will be an official welcoming ceremony and orchid naming ceremony hosted by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife at Singapore Government Complex.
The orchid is Singapore's national flower. Orchid naming ceremonies are held when visiting Singapore by foreign heads of state or other important figures. Spokesperson Kang stated, "I expect this state visit to further deepen the bond and trust between Prime Minister Wong and serve as a catalyst for accelerating the development of the Korea-Singapore strategic partnership."
