[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 해군잠수함사령부 소속 유관순함(SS-Ⅱ, 1,800톤급)은 제107주년 3·1절을 맞아 유관순 열사의 숭고한 독립정신을 기리고, 승조원들의 체력증진과 부대 단결을 도모하기 위해 31km 마라톤을 완주했다.
이번 마라톤은 3·1절의 상징성을 반영해 총 31km를 완주하는 것을 목표로 계획됐다.
유관순함은 지난달 21일부터 27일까지를 3·1절 기념주간으로 지정하고, 유관순함 승조원은 21일부터 26일까지 5일간 개인별로 27.9km를 달렸다.
이후 3·1절 기념 주간 마지막날인 27일에는 함 승조원 총원이 모여 3.1km 단체 달리기를 실시하여 총 31km를 완주했다.
단체 달리기 기수을 맡은 용석현(중위) 유관순함 손상통제관은 “유관순 열사의 이름을 함명으로 사용하는 유관순함 승조원들에게 3ㆍ1절은 대한민국 애국정신과 필승의 전투준비태세를 되새기는 날”이라며, “이번 31km 마라톤은 강인한 체력과 정신력을 단련해 어떠한 상황에서도 임무를 완수하겠다는 의지를 다지는 뜻깊은 계기가 되었다”고 밝혔다.
