[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장이 더불어민주당 전재수 후보의 가덕도 신공항 관련 인터뷰 내용을 정면으로 반박하며, 이를 ‘명백한 허위사실 공표’라고 규정했다. 박 시장은 전 후보가 국책사업의 기본적인 사실관계조차 파악하지 못한 채 시민들을 기만하고 있다고 날을 세웠다.
박 시장은 19일 자신의 SNS를 통해 전재수 후보가 최근 조선일보와의 인터뷰에서 “문재인 정부 때 통과된 가덕도 신공항 개항 시기가 윤석열 정부 들어 2029년에서 2035년으로 연기돼 시민들이 날벼락을 맞았다”고 발언한 것에 대해 조목조목 반박했다.
“개항 2029년으로 앞당긴 건 윤석열 정부... 연기 주체는 이재명 정부”
박 시장은 사실관계의 선후가 완전히 뒤바뀌었다고 지적했다. 그는 “문재인 정부 당시에는 여객터미널과 활주로 등 공항 전체를 바다로 나아가게 하는 방식이 채택되면서 개항 시점이 2035년 말로 설정됐다”고 설명했다.
오히려 윤석열 정부 출범 이후, 부산시의 강력한 요청에 따라 여객터미널 등 제반 시설은 육지에, 활주로는 바다에 건설하는 하이브리드 방식을 채택함으로써 개항 시기를 '2029년 12월'로 6년이나 앞당겼다는 것이 팩트라고 강조했다.
박 시장은 “이처럼 앞당겨진 개항 시기를 다시 2035년으로 연기한 것은 이재명 정부”라며 “이재명 대통령이 지난해 7월 25일 부산 타운홀 미팅에서 개항 연기가 불가피하다고 밝혔고, 국토교통부가 같은 해 11월 29일 재입찰 공고를 통해 2035년 개항을 확정했다”고 설명했다.

박 시장은 전재수 후보의 이력을 문제 삼으며 공세의 수위를 높였다 그는 “이재명 정부에서 해양수산부 장관까지 지낸 인물이 가덕도신공항과 관련한 기본적인 사실관계조차 파악하지 못하고 있다는 점은 납득하기 어렵다”고 비판했다.
박 시장은 전재수 후보의 부산시장 후보 자격에 의문을 제기하며, 가덕도신공항 사업에 대한 인식 부족을 강하게 비판했다. 박 시장은 “전재수 후보가 부산시장 후보로서 기본 자격이 있는지 의심스럽다”며 “가덕도신공항은 부산 시민의 수십 년 숙원이 담긴 국책사업이자, 부산이 글로벌 허브도시이자 동북아 해양수도로 도약하는 데 있어 가장 중요한 사업”이라고 강조했다.
이어 “김해공항이 이미 한계상황에 이르렀다는 점도 신공항 건설의 시급성을 보여주지만, 더 중요한 것은 신공항이 △수도권 일극체제를 타파하는 견인차 역할을 한다는 점”이라고 밝혔다.
또한 박 시장은 "가덕도 신공항은 단순한 공항 건설을 넘어 동남권을 △동북아 물류·비즈니스 허브로 도약시키는 핵심 인프라이며, △트라이포트 부산 완성을 위한 마지막 퍼즐”이라며 “△북극항로 기점으로서의 부산 역시 신공항이 있어야 완전체가 된다”고 설명했다.
박 시장은 "부산의 미래 발전과 국가균형발전에 있어 이런 중요한 위상을 갖는 국책사업에 대해 기본적 사실관계조차 파악하지 못하고 있다는 것은, 부산의 현안에 대해 잘 모르거나, 별 관심이 없었다는 것을 자백하는 것"이라고 꼬집었다.
그러면서 박 시장은 "전재수 후보 본인의 해양수도 비전에도 핵심이 되는 사업이 어떻게 진행되어 왔는지 이렇게 모르다니 부산시장 후보 맞습니까?"라며 "전 후보는 본인의 허위사실공표에 대해 어떻게 할 것인지 밝혀야 한다. 부산 시민에 대한 사과는 기본"이라고 요구했다.

In that interview, Chun claimed that "the opening date for Gadeokdo New Airport, which was passed during the Moon Jae-in administration, was delayed from 2029 to 2035 under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, hitting citizens like a bolt from the blue."

Mayor Park pointed out that the chronological order of the facts has been completely reversed. He explained, "During the Moon Jae-in administration, a method was adopted where the entire airport, including the passenger terminal and runways, would be built offshore, which set the opening date for late 2035."
He emphasized that the fact of the matter is that since the inauguration of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the opening date was actually moved up by six years to December 2029. This was achieved by adopting a "hybrid" construction method—placing the passenger terminal on land and the runways on the sea—at the strong request of the City of Busan.
Mayor Park explained, "It was the Lee Jae-myung administration that pushed this accelerated opening date back to 2035 again. President Lee Jae-myung stated at a Busan town hall meeting on July 25th last year that a delay was inevitable, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport confirmed the 2035 opening through a re-bidding announcement on November 29th of the same year."

Mayor Park increased the intensity of his offensive by taking issue with candidate Chun’s background. He criticized, "It is difficult to understand how an individual who served as the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries under the Lee Jae-myung administration could fail to grasp the most basic facts regarding Gadeokdo New Airport."
Mayor Park questioned candidate Chun’s qualifications as a Busan mayoral candidate and strongly criticized his lack of awareness regarding the project. He emphasized, "Gadeokdo New Airport is a national project embodying the decades-long cherished desire of Busan citizens, and it is the most critical venture for Busan to leap forward as a global hub and the maritime capital of Northeast Asia."
He continued, "While the fact that Gimhae Airport has already reached its limit shows the urgency of the construction, it is more important that the new airport serves as a driving force to break down the unipolar system of the Seoul metropolitan area."
Furthermore, Mayor Park explained, "Gadeokdo New Airport goes beyond simple airport construction; it is a core infrastructure that will elevate the southeast region into a Northeast Asian logistics and business hub and the final puzzle piece for completing 'Tri-port Busan.' Busan as a starting point for the Northern Sea Route also becomes complete only with the new airport."
Mayor Park pointed out, "Failing to understand the basic facts of a national project with such a vital status for Busan’s future and balanced national development is a confession that you either do not know Busan’s current issues or have had little interest in them."
Mayor Park then asked, "How can you be a candidate for Busan Mayor when you are so unaware of how a project central to your own 'Maritime Capital' vision has progressed? Candidate Chun must clarify his position on his dissemination of false information. An apology to the citizens of Busan is the bare minimum."
