문충운 포항시장 예비후보는 지난 2일 선거사무소에서 ‘리셋 포항청년 간담회’를 열고 청년 정책 비전을 발표했다. 문 예비후보는 “포항의 지속 가능성을 위해 청년이 머무는 도시 환경 조성이 필요하다”며 창업·일자리·교육·주거를 연계한 통합형 ‘청년 생태계’ 구축을 제시했다.
문 예비후보는 수도산 벤처타운에 ‘포항혁신마루’를 조성하고, 청년 창업·일자리 플랫폼인 ‘포항청년드림센터’를 구축하겠다고 밝혔다. 초기 공간 지원부터 시제품 제작, 투자 연계까지 지원하는 ‘청년 스타트업 3년 생존 패키지’와 이차전지·수소·바이오 등 신산업 기반의 ‘청년채용 5,000 프로젝트’도 추진하겠다고 했다.
교육 분야에서는 지역 대학과 연계한 디지털·AI·데이터 중심 단기 실무 교육 과정 개설과 산업연계 맞춤형 교육 시스템 구축을 제시했다. 기업 현장 경험을 위한 인턴십 지원금 조성 계획도 포함됐다. 주거 분야에서는 청년 공공기숙형 주택 공급과 최대 3년간 월세·이자 지원 제도 도입을 약속했다.

공원식 국민의힘 포항시장 예비후보는 4일 새벽 달전오거리에서 출근길 시민들을 대상으로 아침 인사를 했다. 이후 산림조합 강당에서 열린 여성문화대학 총동창회장 이·취임식에 참석해 여성 정책 구상을 밝혔다.
공 예비후보는 “포항은 여성 일자리가 부족한 도시”라며 소규모 아파트형 공장 유치, 여성 대상 24시간 긴급보육센터와 돌봄시설 확충, 여성 맞춤형 취업교육 강화를 제시했다. 중앙상가 제2테크노파크에 여성 창업 지원 프로그램과 여성 소상공인 임대료 지원책 도입도 검토하겠다고 밝혔다.
포항시장 선거를 앞두고 예비후보들은 청년 정주, 주력산업 안정, 여성 고용 확대를 앞세워 정책 경쟁을 이어가고 있다.
