명재성 예비후보자는 4일 고양시 일산동구 소재 김대중 전 대통령 사저 기념관에서 기자회견을 열고 “9급 공무원으로 시작해 덕양구청장과 일산서구청장, 경기도의원을 거치며 고양시의 변화를 현장에서 가장 가까이에서 경험해왔다”며 “이제는 도시 전체의 방향을 책임지는 역할에 도전해 고양의 확실한 변화를 이끌겠다”고 밝혔다.

그는 39년에 이르는 행정 경험을 강조하며 현장 중심의 실용 행정을 시정 운영의 핵심 기조로 제시했다.
명 후보는 “넉넉하지 못한 환경에서 성장한 만큼 시민의 목소리를 더 절실히 듣게 됐다”며 “행정은 보여주기식이 아니라 결과로 증명해야 한다는 신념을 갖고 공직에 임해왔다”고 말했다.
이어 소상공인과 서민의 삶을 실질적으로 개선하는 정책을 추진하겠다는 의지도 분명히 했다.
이날 명 후보는 1기 신도시 노후화와 교통 정체, 자족 기능 부족 등 고양시가 직면한 구조적 과제를 해결하기 위한 청사진도 함께 제시했다.

1기 신도시 재건축 시 용적률 상향을 지원하고 원도심 재개발의 행정 절차를 간소화해 균형 있는 도시 재생을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.
또 서울과의 연계 교통망을 확충하고 시내 교통 소외지역을 정비해 ‘출퇴근 30분 시대’를 열겠다고 약속했다.
아울러 대곡역세권 업무지구를 확대하고 백석업무빌딩에 ‘청년 모바일웹 단지’를 조성해 자족 기능을 강화하겠다는 구상도 내놓았다.
돌봄 사각지대 해소와 특성화고 유치를 통한 교육 경쟁력 제고, K-컬처밸리 조기 착공과 호수공원의 국가도시공원 지정 추진 등 문화·휴식 인프라 확충 방안도 언급했다.
여기에 고양시민안전보험 확대를 통해 촘촘한 사회 안전망을 구축하겠다는 계획도 밝혔다.
출마 장소로 김대중 전 대통령 사저 기념관을 선택한 데 대해 그는 “김대중 전 대통령이 강조한 복지국가, 지식정보강국, 문화강국의 가치는 고양시가 나아가야 할 방향과 맞닿아 있다”며 정신적 계승 의지를 드러냈다.

송 전 대표는 응원의 메시지를 전했고, 두 사람은 회견 내내 신뢰를 바탕으로 한 협력 의지를 강조했다.
