파주시 문산도서관은 오는 3월 14일과 21일 양일간 오후 2시 1층 베이스캠프에서 이중섭의 편지화를 주제로 한 미술 인문 강연 이중섭과 아방가르드의 별들을 개최한다.

이번 강연은 파주시민을 대상으로 한국인이 가장 사랑하는 화가 이중섭을 고립된 천재가 아니라 당대 지성들과 치열하게 교류한 시대의 상징으로 재조명하기 위해 기획됐다.
강연은 사료 연구를 통해 한국 근대미술사의 체계를 정립해 온 권위자 최열 미술사학자가 맡으며 최 학자는 저서 이중섭 평전을 통해 이중섭 연구의 새로운 지평을 열었다는 평가를 받고 있다.
강의는 총 2회차로 구성된다.
3월 14일에 열리는 1강 찬란한 시절의 벗들: 이중섭과 6인의 아방가르드에서는 이중섭과 함께 한국 근현대 미술의 황금기를 이끌었던 동료 화가들을 조망하고 김환기의 서정적 추상과 이쾌대의 초현실주의 등을 이중섭의 표현주의와 비교 분석하며, 전위 예술에 대한 열망으로 시대를 건넌 청년 화가들의 연대를 다룰 예정이다.
이어 3월 21일 개최되는 2강 가장 작은 캔버스에 담은 우주: 편지화와 은지화에서는 전쟁과 이별을 겪으며 변화한 이중섭의 내면을 깊이 있게 들여다보며 가난 속에서 담배 은박지에 그림을 새겨야 했던 결핍이 은지화라는 독창적 혁신으로 승화된 과정과 가족을 향한 그리움이 담긴 편지화의 예술적 가치를 조명한다.
문산도서관 관계자는 이번 미술사 강연은 단순히 그림을 감상하는 것을 넘어 한 예술가의 삶을 통해 한국 근현대사를 관통하는 지적 호기심과 정서적 감동을 동시에 느낄 수 있는 기회가 될 것이라고 밝혔다.

Paju Munsan Library will host "Lee Jung-seop and the Stars of the Avant-Garde" on March 14th and 21st at 2:00 PM at the Base Camp on the first floor, focusing on Lee Jung-seop's letter paintings.
This lecture, designed for Paju residents, aims to shed new light on Lee Jung-seop, Korea's most beloved painter, not as an isolated genius, but as a symbol of an era in which he engaged in intense exchanges with contemporary intellectuals.
The lecture will be delivered by Choi Yeol, an art historian who has established a systematic framework for the history of modern Korean art through historical research. Choi is recognized for opening new horizons in Lee Jung-seop research through his biography.
The lecture will consist of two sessions.
The first lecture, "Friends of a Brilliant Time: Lee Jung-seob and the Six Avant-Gardes," to be held on March 14th, will examine Lee Jung-seob and his fellow artists who led the golden age of modern and contemporary Korean art. It will compare and analyze Kim Hwan-ki's lyrical abstraction and Lee Quede's surrealism with Lee Jung-seob's expressionism, and explore the solidarity of young artists who transcended time with their passion for avant-garde art.
