청와대가 9일 "이재명 대통령이 최근 중동 정세 속 한국민의 안전한 이동을 지원한 투르크메니스탄·가포르 정상에게 감사 서한을 보냈다"고 전했다.
강유정 대변인은 이날 오전 서면 브리핑에서 "이 대통령은 9일 오전 세르다르 베르디무하메도프 투르크메니스탄 대통령·로렌스 웡 싱가포르 총리에게 각각 감사 서한을 발송했다"며 이같이 전했다.
이 대통령은 베르디무하메도프 대통령에게 보낸 서한에서 이란에 체류 중이던 한국민 25명·이란 국적 한국민 가족 4명이 지난 3~4일 투르크메니스탄으로 안전하게 대피할 수 있도록 적극 협조해 준 것에 "이번 지원이 양국 간 우호·신뢰 깊이를 다시 한 번 확인하는 계기가 됐다"며 사의를 표했다.
또 웡 싱가포르 총리에게 보낸 서한에서 "어려운 상황에 처한 우리 국민에게 따뜻한 배려를 보내준 데 깊이 감사한다"며 싱가포르 측 지원이 우리 국민 안전 확보에 큰 도움이 됐다"고 했다.
싱가포르는 지난 7~8일 오만에서 출발한 자국 전세기에 한국민 4명이 함께 탑승하도록 조치해 싱가포르로의 이동을 도왔다.
