간담회에 참석한 해병전우회 관계자들은 대구의 재도약을 위해 삼성반도체 공장과 삼성병원 분원 유치가 필요하다는 의견을 내놨다. 이에 유 의원은 “대구를 지켜온 시민들의 자부심이 대구의 진짜 경쟁력”이라며 “해병대가 국가의 방패였던 것처럼, 대구시민을 든든히 지키는 시장이 되겠다”는 뜻을 분명히 했다.
유 의원은 이번 간담회를 시작으로 지역 보훈단체와의 소통을 점차 넓히고, 경제와 산업, 청년, 안보 분야를 아우르는 현장 행보를 지속할 계획이다.
