파주시가 지난 3일 신산초등학교 내에 '다함께돌봄센터'를 새롭게 개소하며 지역사회 밀착형 아동 돌봄 체계 강화에 나섰다.
이번 센터는 학교와 지방자치단체가 긴밀히 협력해 이룬 결실로, 학교가 유휴 공간을 제공하고 파주시 평생교육과가 시설 리모델링을 맡았으며, 보육아동과가 운영 법인 선정과 인건비·운영비 등 예산 지원을 담당해 안정적인 운영 기반을 구축했다.

특히 신산초등학교는 다문화 아동 비중이 전체의 약 35%에 달하는 지역적 특성을 감안해, 향후 다문화 아동을 위한 맞춤형 프로그램 개발에도 역량을 집중할 계획이다.
센터 개소로 신산초는 보다 체계적인 돌봄 분담 체계를 갖추게 됐다.
기존 오후 돌봄교실이 1·2학년 저학년 아동을 중심으로 운영되는 반면, 다함께돌봄센터는 3~6학년 고학년 아동을 우선 대상으로 한다.
저학년 위주였던 기존 돌봄의 한계를 넘어 고학년까지 수혜 범위를 확대함으로써 두 서비스 간 상호 보완을 통해 돌봄 사각지대를 최소화하겠다는 방침이다.
정원은 25명이며 운영 시간은 아동의 생활 패턴에 맞춰 이원화했다.
학기 중에는 오후 1시부터 8시까지, 방학 중에는 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 운영된다.
센터에서는 기초 학습 지원은 물론 놀이·문화 활동, 건강한 간식 제공 등 다양한 프로그램이 진행되며, 아동에게는 안전한 놀이터를, 맞벌이 부모에게는 양육 부담을 덜어주는 안심처가 될 것으로 기대된다.
