파주시가 성매매집결지 폐쇄를 향한 시민 공감대 형성을 위해 문화예술을 매개로 한 교육 프로그램 운영에 본격 나섰다.
파주시는 지난 13일 2026년 상반기 '성매매집결지 폐쇄 합동 거점시설' 활용 교육 프로그램을 개강하고 운영을 시작했다고 밝혔다.

이 프로그램은 지난 2025년 처음 시작된 것으로, 시민들에게 문화예술 향유 기회를 제공하는 동시에 지역사회의 숙원 사업인 성매매집결지 폐쇄와 반성매매 가치를 자연스럽게 확산시키기 위해 기획됐다.
올해 상반기 과정은 3월 13일부터 6월 5일까지 매주 금요일 진행되며, 다양한 장르의 문화예술 체험 및 작품 제작 등 창작 활동과 함께 성평등·인권의 가치 및 반성매매의 사회적 의미를 고찰하는 토론과 세미나로 구성됐다.
참여자들이 제작한 작품은 '성평등 파주' 플랫폼과 거점시설 내 상설 전시를 통해 일반 시민들에게도 공개될 예정이다.
교육에 참여한 한 시민은 "예술 활동을 통해 지역사회의 민감한 현안을 깊이 있게 고민해볼 수 있어 뜻깊다"며 "단순한 배움을 넘어 우리 지역의 긍정적인 변화를 끌어내는 마중물 역할을 하고 싶다"고 말했다.
파주시는 시민 창작물을 거점시설 곳곳에 배치해 방문하는 일반 시민들도 성매매집결지 폐쇄의 필요성을 시각적으로 체감할 수 있도록 할 방침이다.
