전국운수서비스산업노동조합 경북본부는 17일 포항 복합문화센터 덕업관에서 기자회견을 열고 이 후보에 대한 공식 지지를 밝혔다.
이날 강정수 위원장 등 노조 관계자들은 “이 후보는 약속을 지키는 신뢰의 행정가”라며 “현장 중심의 시정 경험과 판단력을 갖춘 경북 발전의 적임자”라고 평가했다. 이어 “서민과 약자에게 희망이 되는 후보”라며 지지를 호소했다.
같은 날 같은 장소에서는 한국노총 경상북도 포항지역지부도 별도의 기자회견을 열고 이 후보 지지를 선언했다. 이들은 “포항시정을 이끌어 온 경험을 통해 노동 현안과 생업 현장을 가장 잘 이해하고 있다”며 “노동자가 존중받는 경북을 만들 적임자”라고 밝혔다.
노동계는 “땀 흘려 일하는 노동자와 서민이 소외되지 않는 지역을 만들어야 한다”며 이 후보를 중심으로 한 정책 추진에 기대를 나타냈다.
이에 대해 이 후보는 “택시노동자 등 현장에서 묵묵히 일하는 분들의 어려움을 잘 알고 있다”며 “자율주행 등 산업 변화 속에서도 생업이 위협받지 않도록 정책적 보호 장치를 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
또 “노동자가 존중받는 사회를 만드는 데 힘을 보태고, 시민의 삶을 최우선으로 살피는 도정을 펼치겠다”고 강조했다.

He further emphasized, “I will contribute to creating a society where workers are respected and implement a provincial administration that prioritizes the lives of citizens.”
