【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=국민의힘 박대기 포항시장 예비후보가 선거사무소 개소식을 열고 ‘다·뛰·포(다시 뛰자 포항!)’를 슬로건으로 내세우며 본격적인 선거 행보에 돌입했다.
박 예비후보는 지난 15일 개소식을 통해 포항 발전 비전을 제시하고, 핵심 공약으로 ‘글로벌 SMR 소부장(소재·부품·장비) 허브’ 육성 구상을 밝혔다. 그는 “탄소국경세와 산업구조 변화 속에서 무탄소 전원 확보가 중요한 과제”라며 “SMR 산업을 통해 포항의 새로운 성장 동력을 마련하겠다”고 강조했다. 이어 “이웃 도시인 경주시가 SMR 건설과 운영 중심이라면, 포항은 소재 가공과 부품 수출 중심지로 역할을 해야 한다”며 원전 산업 벨트 구축 구상도 제시했다.
이날 개소식에는 이상휘 국회의원을 비롯해 곽상도, 이에리사 등 정치권 인사와 시민·지지자 1천300여 명이 참석했다. 김문수, 나경원, 김은혜 의원 등은 영상 메시지를 통해 축하와 지지를 보냈다.
김은혜 국민의힘 원내정책수석부대표는 영상축사에서 “대통령실에서 함께 일하며 국정운영에 참여했던 경험과 관록을 잘 알고 있다”며 “포항을 향한 절박한 의지와 진정성을 느낄 수 있었다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “오늘 개소식은 포항을 다시 뛰게 하는 출발선”이라며 응원의 메시지를 전했다.
나경원 전 원내대표도 영상축사를 통해 박 예비후보를 “정책·예산·정무감각을 두루 갖춘 인물”로 평가하며 “헌정질서를 지키기 위해 앞장서 싸워온 정치인”이라고 강조했다. 특히 2019년 패스트트랙 충돌 사태를 언급하며 “가장 선두에서 당을 위해 헌신하며 가까워졌다”고 회상했다.
나 전 원내대표는 “포항시장은 단순한 행정가가 아니라 산업도시 포항을 이끌 정치적 리더십이 필요한 자리”라며 “결단력과 경험을 갖춘 박 후보가 포항의 미래를 이끌 적임자”라고 평가했다.
이에 대해 박 예비후보는 “대통령실과 국회에서 함께한 분들의 응원에 큰 책임감을 느낀다”며 “그간 쌓은 국정 경험을 바탕으로 포항 발전을 위해 모든 역량을 쏟아붓겠다”고 밝혔다.
