<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 김형렬 기자> 1919년 포천의 거리를 뜨겁게 달궜던 무명 영웅들의 독립을 향한 염원이 2026년 무대 위에서 다시 한번 활활 타올랐다.
포천시는 지난 20일 반월아트홀 대극장에서 포천문화관광재단 주최로 열린 포천시립민속예술단의 정기공연 ‘꺼지지 않는 불꽃 : 19190330’이 800여 명의 관객을 동원하며 전석 매진 속에 성황리에 막을 내렸다고 24일 밝혔다.
무료로 진행된 이번 공연은 전통 공연예술의 묵직한 색채에 입체적인 연출을 덧입혀 눈과 귀를 사로잡았다. 특히 무대와 객석의 벽을 허물고 시민들이 직접 극의 주체로 뛰어든 참여형 퍼포먼스가 백미로 꼽히며 짙은 여운을 남겼다.

공연 1부에서는 강상구 작곡가의 국악관현악곡 ‘아침을 두드리는 소리’가 장엄하게 울려 퍼지며 해방의 벅찬 서막을 알렸다. 이어진 2부에서는 포천시민을 대표하는 33인이 무대에 올라 기미독립선언문을 낭독하고 만세 퍼포먼스를 펼쳐 현재와 과거를 잇는 뭉클한 공감대를 형성했다.
3부 창작 가무극은 민속 군무와 도창이 어우러진 복합 예술의 결정체였다. 포천의 독립운동가 최석휴 선생과 이름 없는 영웅들의 피땀 어린 투쟁을 생생하게 그려내며 과거의 뼈아픈 역사를 오늘의 날카로운 감각으로 환기시켰다.
특히 피날레에서는 대형 태극기를 힘차게 휘날리는 포천일고 학생들과 전 관객이 하나 되어 핏대 높여 ‘대한독립만세’를 제창, 공연장을 순식간에 뜨거운 역사의 현장으로 탈바꿈시켰다.

임윤희 예술감독은 "단순히 박제된 역사가 아니라 관객과 호흡하며 현재의 사건으로 되살아나는 무대를 만들고자 했다"며 뜻깊은 자리를 빚어낸 시민 33인과 학생들에게 감사를 표했다.
이중효 포천문화관광재단 대표이사 역시 "시민과 함께 예술로 지역의 혼을 체감한 가슴 벅찬 시간이었다"며 "앞으로도 시민이 직접 참여하고 소통하는 고품격 콘텐츠를 꾸준히 선보이겠다"고 약속했다.
