파주시가 복지 사각지대에 놓인 위기가구를 지원하기 위해 추진 중인 ‘나눔으로 싹이트는, 드림씨앗’(이하 드림씨앗) 사업의 제11기 지원 대상자를 최종 선정했다.
드림씨앗 사업은 시민들의 자발적인 모금으로 조성된 기부금을 활용해 갑작스러운 위기 상황에 처한 가구의 회복을 돕는 파주시 대표 민관협력 복지사업이다.
2020년 6월 1기를 시작으로 지금까지 수술비, 치료비, 생계비 등을 지원하며 지역사회 안전망 역할을 수행해왔다.

이번 11기 사업에는 총 6건의 사례가 접수됐으며, 현장 중심 사례 발표와 전문위원들의 심의를 거쳐 최종 4가구가 선정됐다.
선정된 가구에는 각 상황에 맞춘 생계비와 주거비 등 맞춤형 지원이 제공될 예정이다.
선정된 사례를 보면, 장애로 경제활동이 어려운 가운데 영유아 양육과 출산을 앞두고 있어 생계 부담이 큰 다문화 가정과 정신적 고통 및 사회적 관계 단절로 고립된 정신건강 위기 가구가 포함됐다.
또한 정신장애로 구직이 어려운 상황에서 누적된 채무로 생활고를 겪는 가구와 갑작스러운 화재로 주거지를 잃은 장애인 가구도 지원 대상에 이름을 올렸다.
이명희 파주시 복지정책과장은 “드림씨앗 사업이 취지에 맞게 운영돼 실질적인 도움이 필요한 분들에게 희망이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 복지 사각지대 해소를 위해 시민들의 지속적인 관심과 참여를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
파주시는 앞으로도 드림씨앗 사업을 통해 공적 지원의 한계를 보완하고, 지역사회가 함께 이웃을 돌보는 나눔 문화를 확산해 나간다는 계획이다.

Paju City has finalized the selection of recipients for the 11th cohort of the ‘Dream Seeds, Sprouting Through Sharing’ (hereinafter ‘Dream Seeds’) project, which is being implemented to support crisis households in welfare blind spots.
The Dream Seeds project is Paju City’s representative public-private partnership welfare initiative that utilizes donations raised through voluntary citizen fundraising to help households facing sudden crises recover.
Since launching its first cohort in June 2020, the project has served as a community safety net by providing support for surgery, medical treatment, and living expenses.
A total of six cases were submitted for this 11th cohort. Following on-site case presentations and deliberation by expert committee members, four households were finally selected.
The selected households will be provided with customized support, including living expenses and housing costs, tailored to their specific situations. The selected cases include multicultural families facing heavy financial burdens due to child-rearing and childbirth while unable to engage in economic activities because of disabilities, as well as households in mental health crises isolated by emotional distress and severed social ties.
Additionally, households struggling with financial hardship due to accumulated debt while facing difficulties finding employment because of mental disabilities, and households with disabled members who lost their homes due to sudden fires, were also named as beneficiaries.
Lee Myung-hee, Head of the Welfare Policy Division at Paju City, stated, "I hope the Dream Seed project operates in accordance with its purpose and becomes a source of hope for those in need of practical assistance," adding, "I ask for the continued interest and participation of citizens to resolve welfare blind spots."
Paju City plans to continue using the Dream Seed project to complement the limitations of public support and to spread a culture of sharing where the community cares for its neighbors together.
