파주시 문산도서관이 지식정보취약계층 아동들의 꿈을 지원하는 독서 복지 안전망 강화에 나선다.

문산도서관은 최근 국립어린이청소년도서관이 주관하는 2026년 도서관과 함께 책 읽기 공모사업 운영기관으로 최종 선정됐다.
이번 선정에 따라 문산도서관은 오는 6월부터 9월까지 지역아동센터와 보육원 아동 14명을 대상으로 총 15회에 걸친 집중 독서 문화 프로그램을 운영하며 상대적으로 독서 인프라가 부족한 파주 북부권의 거점 도서관으로서 지역 내 문화 격차를 해소하고 아동들의 정서적 성장을 돕겠다는 취지다.
가장 눈에 띄는 프로그램은 엉뚱발랄 그림책 작가 데뷔 프로젝트다.
참여 아동들은 단순히 책을 읽는 것에 그치지 않고 이야기 구성부터 삽화 작업까지 그림책 제작의 전 과정을 직접 경험하게 되며 세상에 하나뿐인 나만의 그림책을 완성하는 과정을 통해 창작의 기쁨과 성취감을 맛볼 것으로 기대된다.
이 밖에도 도서관은 작가와의 만남과 도서관 활용 수업 등 다채로운 체험 활동을 병행해 아이들이 도서관을 친숙한 공간으로 인식하도록 유도할 계획이다.
그리고 지식정보취약계층 아동들이 겪을 수 있는 문화적 소외감을 해소하고 자연스럽게 독서 습관을 형성할 수 있도록 돕는 것이 이번 사업의 핵심이다.
이인숙 문산도서관장은 아동들이 그림책 작가가 되어보는 경험을 통해 자존감을 키우는 소중한 계기가 되길 바란다며 앞으로도 지역 구석구석에 닿는 촘촘한 독서 복지를 실현하기 위해 노력하겠다고 밝혔다.

Munsan Library Launches Picture Book Author Debut Project for Underprivileged Children
Paju City’s Munsan Library is stepping up to strengthen the reading welfare safety net to support the dreams of children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Munsan Library was recently selected as a final operating institution for the 2026 "Reading Together with Libraries" contest, organized by the National Children and Youth Library.
Following this selection, Munsan Library will run an intensive reading culture program consisting of 15 sessions from June to September for 14 children from local children's centers and orphanages. The initiative aims to bridge the cultural gap within the region and support the emotional growth of children, serving as a hub library for the northern Paju area, which currently lacks sufficient reading infrastructure.
The most notable program is the "Whimsical and Lively Picture Book Author Debut Project."
Participating children will not stop at simply reading books; they will directly experience the entire process of picture book production, from story composition to illustration. It is expected that they will taste the joy of creation and a sense of accomplishment through the process of completing their own unique picture books. In addition to this, the library plans to encourage children to perceive the library as a familiar space by combining diverse experiential activities, such as meetings with authors and classes on library utilization.
